There is a saying: "A change is as good as a holiday". We took it to heart. Although 18 Marsh Street, Mossel Bay, has been a favorite get together spot over the past two decades, we know that the only way forward is by not looking back.
That is why we are revamping the look and vibe of Friends Pub and Grill (as it was previously known). In case you missed it, five year partners Tyron Janse Van Vuuren and Michael Kuter ended the partnership earlier this year. Tyron acted as the face of the business through the transitioning period from Trawlers to Friends in 2016. We are all sad to see him go, but are excited for his new endeavors.
Frankie's Restaurant, which catered to the Pub was also sold to Mr Kuter. This change made it possible to expand the business in a way that was impossible before. Friends and Bub & Grub will henceforth simply trade as Friends Bub and Grub. (Fun fact: The "B" in Bub isn't a typo. Bub is an old English slang word meaning alcoholic drink. Grub is also an old English slang word meaning 'hearty food'.)
So, lots of new and exciting improvements can be expected over the following months. In a way, the Covid 19 restrictions hastened the inevitable. Lots of businesses, like us, had to adapt to the new laws and restrictions. As usual, we are counting on our community to keep the local small businesses alive. We thank each and every one who helped make Friends amazing over the years.
Cheers! To new beginnings..
